Welcome! I am excited and looking forward to a wonderful school year at Escobar/Rios Elementary. Our staff and students worked diligently last year, proving that Achievers are the best!
In the 2014-2015 school year, our 3rd-5th grade students took the State of Texas Assessments for Academic Readiness (STAAR) earning a Met Standard in all four indexes - Student Achievement, Student Progress, Closing Performance Gaps, and Postsecondary Readiness. Our current 3rd-5th grade students will once again take STAAR assessments: 3rd will take Math and Reading; 4th will take Math, Reading, and Writing; and 5th will take Math, Reading, and Science.
Our PK-2nd grade teachers also worked very hard last year to ensure that their students exceeded expectations in all academic areas. Their students took assessments during the year as well; Texas Early Mathematics Inventory (TEMI), IStation Indicators of Progress (ISIP) English/Español, and Circle Phonological Awareness Language and Literacy System (C-PALLS). These assessments were given at the beginning of the year (BOY), middle of year (MOY), and end of year (EOY) with on-going progress monitoring. PK-2nd grade students will again take these assessments in the 2015-2016 school year.
I look forward to working with all students and staff at Escobar/Rios Elementary this year!
