About Me

My name is Janice Vega, and I was born in Harlingen, TX. I now reside in Mission, TX.  My passions during my off time from teaching is accompanying my son to his football practices and cheering him on.

I am employed with Mission CISD and have been teaching Kindergarten at Escobar-Rios Elementary for the past 8 years. This will be my 16th year teaching with Mission CISD. I graduated in 2003 with a double B.A. in Psychology & Sociology from the University of Texas Pan American. I graduated in 2013 with a master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Sam Houston State University.

I first worked as a Family Service Advocate for the Migrant Headstart program but after seeing the students and teachers interacting at the centers I was assigned to, I decided that I wanted that same interaction and decided to go back to school. I decided to continue my education thru an alternative teaching certification program to obtain my Teaching license. I am certified as an EC-4 Bilingual Generalist teacher. I enjoy my profession and being a teacher is one of the greatest joys in my life. I love helping students progess in their academics and have a life long interest in learning.

Each school year is a new and exciting challenge for me as I get the chance to meet and teach a new group of students. Teaching is my passion and I hope to continue in this career for as long as I can.
