Counseling
Welcome to Mrs. Uresti-Rojas School Counseling Website! I am the school counselor for Escobar/Rios. I have the joy of working with students through classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling. I also collaborate with school staff and parents in order to best meet the needs of students.
Classroom Guidance
I see each class every other week throughout the school year and have the chance to interact with every student during these lessons. Lessons typically last 45 minutes in length and cover topics such as school readiness skills, understanding feelings of self and others, problem solving skills, friendship skills, bullying, goal setting and study skills.
Individual/Small Group Counseling
Some students can benefit from one-on-one or group counseling regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges.
Moreover, we are focusing on developing our students social emotional needs of by using components from Capturing Kids Heart. One main piece from the program is social contracts created by students. Every class is implementing social contracts and sharing positive affirmations with each other. I will be sharing the link to learn more about Capturing Kids Heart.
